Shengtao's precision CNC machined carbon steel hydraulic manifold blocks begin as solid bar stock or plate and are transformed into precision fluid-routing components through a carefully planned machining sequence on multi-axis CNC machining centers. The sequence is designed so that intersecting internal galleries — the network of drilled passages that route hydraulic fluid between cartridge valve cavities and external ports — are produced from a common datum face, ensuring that every port thread, cavity bore, and mounting hole is positioned relative to every other feature with a positional tolerance of ±0.05 mm. This is the core discipline of manifold machining: if a gallery intersection is off by even a fraction of a millimeter, the resulting flow restriction or leakage path can render the entire hydraulic system unreliable. After drilling and boring, all gallery intersections are mechanically deburred to remove the intersection burrs that would otherwise break loose in service and contaminate the hydraulic fluid, and the completed manifold is high-pressure flushed to remove any residual chips.
Material selection is driven by working pressure, fluid compatibility, and environmental conditions. 1045 medium-carbon steel is the most cost-effective choice for industrial manifolds operating at moderate pressures with standard mineral oil, and it can be selectively induction-hardened on mounting faces if required. 4140 (42CrMo4) is specified for high-pressure manifolds where through-hardening after machining to 28–40 HRC provides the strength margin for continuous operation at 350–420 bar. For manifolds that will operate in corrosive or high-humidity environments, electroless nickel plating provides uniform coverage on every internal surface, including deep galleries and blind holes that electroplating cannot reach. GGG-40 ductile iron is an alternative when vibration damping and machinability are priorities, particularly for large manifold blocks in stationary industrial equipment. For manifolds requiring a hard, wear-resistant surface on cartridge valve bores with a tough core, 8620 (20CrMnTi) case-carburized to 58–62 HRC provides exceptional durability under high-cycle conditions.
Every manifold is dimensionally inspected on CMM, with special attention to cartridge cavity geometry, port thread quality (100% gauge-checked), and flatness of mating surfaces. Optional hydrostatic proof testing at 1.5× working pressure provides documented evidence of structural integrity and leak-tightness. The finished manifold ships with all ports capped and plugged, a dimensional inspection report, material certificates, and — where specified — a hydrostatic test certificate.
